Brief Biography

I'm a father of two adorable kids who spend more time as animals or superheroes than they do as themselves. When they're human, we generally run around outside or build with LEGOs. I also play the RAV Vast, a cross between a steel tongue drum and a handpan. It looks like a UFO (seriously, look it up) and produces extremely meditative music.

Originally from Rexburg, Idaho, I got my master's degree in computer science from Swansea University in Wales, and then spent some time as a sustainability researcher in Norway, before finally settling in Utah, where my wife works as a mental health therapist and I work as a software engineer.

Writing Journey

I started writing novels in high school. Even though my early attempts were all terrible (not to mention unfinished), I enjoyed the process of telling stories and building cool worlds. I wrote on and off during my college years before finally completing my first novel in 2022. Holding that manuscript in my hands (yes, I printed it out) lit a fire under me! Since then, I've written a new book almost every year. My current project is a story about the neurotic manager of a failing hotel for magical guests.

I write fantasy and science fiction. I'm especially fascinated by giants (the bigger the better), so they tend to show up in one form or another in most of my stories. I also love creating magical animals that my characters get to ride or keep as pets.
